The Secret to Younger Looking Skin!

Ladies, what if I told you I had a magic potion to stop the aging process today?

Well… I’m no magician and unfortunately I don’t have a secret potion but I do have a way for you to slow down the aging process on your skin, and it’s been right under your nose this whole time.

It’s sunscreen. Yes, sunscreen!

I know what you’re probably thinking:

“What the heck does sunscreen have to do with the aging process?”

Here’s the truth, the sun’s damaging ultraviolet and UVB rays are responsible for nearly 90 percent of aging showing up on our faces. Yikes! Exposure without proper protection has the potential to accelerate visible aging signs, such as wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, skin discoloration and the loss of elasticity and moisture.

“Okay maybe, but black women don’t need sunscreen; we’ve got enough melanin to protect us.”

Honey, black definitely can crack if it isn’t properly cared for, melanin is great, but it is not bullet proof and black women need just as much daily sunscreen as anyone else exposed to the sun.

Read my recent post and learn more about a recent study, which found people who wear sunscreen regularly, were 24 percent less likely to show increased signs of aging.

I’ll let you in on a little secret though, I shared similar sentiments as some of you (45% of you be exact), feeling apprehensive and initially skeptical about wearing sunscreen most of my life. I grew up believing my darker complexion made me immune from the harmful effects of the sun. So much so, I rarely paid much attention to how vulnerable I left my skin, until now!

I’d like to keep my youthful glow popping as long as I can. There is so much information confirming that black women and people in general actually stand to benefit from continued use of sunscreen, whether you’re outside or indoors. Keeping our skin’s moisture locked and protected at all times is essential so it goes without question, I’ve made it a priority to include sunscreen as a staple in my daily beauty routine ensuring my skin is the healthiest it can be.

In my daily routine, I use OLAY’s new Complete All Day Moisturizer with SPF 15 and the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream with SPF 30 for combined protection and hydration. They both go on light, but pack on heavy protection so I can apply them once in the morning and know I’m covered throughout the day. Their formulated SPF products work collaboratively to act as barriers against the sun’s UVB and UV rays while softening and moisturizing the skin. In other words, it won’t leave our skin looking ashy and dry with chalky residue. Instead, my skin is always left feeling smooth, soft and buttery; added bonus – it smells good too.

Here are the added benefits of the two OLAY’s new SPF products:

OLAY Complete All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15

  • Infused with antioxidant ingredients such as Vitamin E, Vitamin B3 and Vitamin C.
  • Solar Sheer Technology that easily blends with skin and offers protection against premature skin damage.
  • Offered in 3 different types for normal, combination and sensitive skin.

OLAY Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream with SPF 30

  • Infused with Vitamin B3, Amino Peptide, Olivem, Glycerin and Lys’lastine.
  • Noticeably reduces the appearance of lines, boost hydration and brighten skin within 1 day.
  • Firms and significantly improves skin’s overall texture.

I highly recommend incorporating both into your daily skin care routine, trust me, it’s worth it!
